Another trip to the Mountains

A while back you may remember seeing pics from a trip we took to the mountains with some friends and Bryce's girlfriend, R. Well we went back this past weekend with Mike, Shannon and N. We have been going to the Boone area in the mts. now for 3 years I think. It has become a tradition for us to all go around the same time each year and look at the leaves and do some sight seeing. This year we were a bit late going up because of busy schedules, but we made it. We went up on Saturday morning and started out at Grandfather Mt. We went to the little zoo first and saw the animals. Then we continued up the mountain to the Mile High Swinging Bridge. I think we were out of our minds!!! It was so cold up there at the top and the wind was blowing so hard that it hurt to touch your skin! But we stuck it out just long enough to take some pics. Bryce was yelling "Go Bye-Bye" the whole time. Poor boys were so cold. After that we drove back down to Boone and went to a place called Mystery Hill. We went a couple years back and thought it was pretty cool, so we took the boys this time. It is just a little museum that has some weird special effect kinds of things in it. Hard to explain. But the best part of the museum is this room that you walk into and when you look at the walls it looks level, but the floor is really slanted. When you walk in, it throws your balance off and you either fall over or you stumble trying to catch your balance. The room pulls you down the slant making it very difficult to stand. And when you do stand you have to over compensate and you stand at a 45* angle. It is so weird...I wish I could explain it better. But if you are ever in Boone and looking for something to do, you should look it up. Then to end the day we went to one of Shannon, Mike, and Dave's favorite places to eat...The Daniel Boone Inn. It is pretty good. They serve all of their food country family style. You would not believe the line that raps around this place. Get there early if you plan on going. :) We spent the night at the Hampton Inn thanks to Mike and then came home the next morning. It was a very nice, but short trip!
