Memorial Day

Happy Memorial Day!!!

We had a great weekend! I hope that everyone else did too. The weather was absolutely beautiful for all of the outdoor activities that were planned. The food was great and friends and family were around. Can't get better than that!

We started the weekend at my dad and stepmom's house. Saturday we went over there to celebrate her birthday. We cooked steaks and shrimp out on the grill and ate cake of course. Then we just spent some time together. Even though they only live 30 min away, it is hard to get over there as much as we would like. So when we get the chance, it is always nice.

Then on Sunday, we went to Captain Steve and Jeanne's (that is the name of his restaurant-it is a habit to call him that) annual lake party. They always put on a good party! Tons of food that is so, so, so yummy. When I say a ton of food...I mean it. They have ribs, BBQ pork, chicken tenders, fish, shrimp, mac and cheese, french fries, pasta salads, corn on the cob, cakes, cookies, and a lot more. They also have a band and a DJ that plays while the band takes breaks,and a jump house thing for the kids. We go with our friends Mandy and Henry and their 3 kids. Her parents are there as well. There are so many people that come to their party and we have gotten to know a couple over the years. So it is nice to see those people and catch up. The weather was wonderful! We couldn't have asked for a better day!
Oh, and if you live in Charlotte and are looking for a good seafood restaurant...you have to go to Captain Steve's. There is one on Carowinds Blvd in Fort Mill and one on Monroe Rd in Matthews. So yummy!

This is what happens after a day at the lake...

On Monday, Ben planned a cookout at his pool. We had some good hamburgers (although they were too big to get your mouth around) and hot dogs. Two summer holiday favorites. We had some other goodies too like pasta salad, mac and cheese, fruit, cake, cookies, chips and more. Damon brought his Corn Hole game and volleyball, so there were quite a few games of those going on. And then we went to the pool as well. Again, it was nice to hang out with some friends and family on a beautiful day!
