Forever Remembered

On Friday when we were on our way to TN, I got a very upsetting phone call. On the other line, there was a person telling me that one of our friends (that I worked with) was on Life Support and it didn't look too good. What??? How can this be? What happened? They told me that Betsy (Elizabeth) had a complication from a blood clot that was in her leg. It traveled to her lungs causing her to go into cardiac arrest. They continued with CPR for 25 min and got her back, but there was no brain activity. They did all they could do, ran test after test trying to find any activity at all, but there was nothing. Late Friday afternoon, I got another call. They had taken her off life support so they could donate her organs. Confusion had set in. I just don't understand. She was only 27 yrs old! This doesn't happen to people who are so young. How? Why? Emotions were flowing.
Monday night her family had a ceremony for everyone to come together and remember this wonderful person. She was so loved by everyone who crossed her path. She had that personality that drew you in and made you feel like you've know her forever. She was crazy, funny, caring, positive, loving, devoted, a GREAT special ed teacher...a light in our lives. She touched so many people and that was very evident in the stories people told at the ceremony. The love of her life got up and said such wonderful, touching words. David and I couldn't believe how strong he was as we sat there with tears streaming down our faces. It is that strength that Betsy also displayed in everything she did.
The confusion is still there, it just doesn't seem real. But one thing is for sure, she was immensely loved and will be remembered forever by everyone she knew.

Her smile always made you smile and laugh...

We love you Betsy!!
